Grateful, thankful for

for a phone call with a good friend

for an incredible set by Éliane Radigue, moving deliciously created sounds across a number of speakers, immersing the listener. An undeniably endearing sense of humour within too.

for the incredible Davies siblings (along with discovering Dominic Lash and Alison Knowles, in the first case), performing wonderful and diverse pieces of music, one inspiring thoughts, for me, of the relationship between a musician’s placement in a matrix, and their approach to objects. I adored the second set of pieces, drawing the ear into the micro changes in tone from the bows on strings. A deeply meditative experience.

Grateful, thankful for

for the potential and prospects that a new job may bring to a friend.

for cracking my phone screen a bit. It’s still fundamentally workable, but that accident alerted me more vividly to the unhealthy relationship I have with my phone.

for The Old Police House family gifting live music to people in Hackney. It was wonderful to hear friends and people I admire (not mutually exclusive!) making their music outside of the home I know them from, a fresh context further illuminating their invention, their wild peculiarity, their vitality. All sets wonderfully unique, and yet something beautifully whole about themselves as a community. They generously offer inspiration always.
